The pandemic for many couples has been a stressful experience that can destabilize the best of relationships. It can also make it more difficult to empathize with each other. Amidst the severity and concerns of the pandemic, self-care is still a pivotal thing that every couple needs to engage in.
Some ways that you can engage in self –care in a pandemic
- Is to first be aware of what is going on, the impact that the pandemic has and can cause on your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self.
- Try to discuss new ways of living, parenting, working and finding sometime for yourself.
- When you have an awareness , you will be able to set some boundaries for yourself, and make and effort to take care of all aspect of your self through such a difficult time. Ask for help when needed
- Engage in journaling , or just write something lovely about each day.
- Find joy in the midst of the trying time
- If you’re finding yourself being irritable over little things , share this with your partner and express how you are feeling.
- Avoid being hard on yourself
- Be calm and enjoy life
- Be empathetic and compassionate on yourself
- Remember to share the love and engage in intimacy.
- Maintain a daily, weekly self-care routine( Its about what works for you)
- Develop simple hobbies and fun activities ,and do them
- Remember your faith and engage in reading the words and pray
- Make an effort to get enough rest for the mind and body
- Self-care is an essential ingredient all through life but especially during a pandemic, so take it easy on yourself.
